Kate graduated with a BSc degree in Chinese Acupuncture from the International College of Oriental Medicine. She specialises in Traditional Chinese Medicine, Five Element Acupuncture and the classical system of Stems and Branches.
Kate has spent many years working within the care industry and has gained a Higher National Certificate in nursing. She has worked with people living with a wide variety of health conditions and is passionate about supporting people through their healing journeys. She is constantly developing and expanding her understanding of health and well-being through her studies, which continue to inspire and evolve her treatments.
Kate is also a qualified massage therapist, specialising in sports and remedial massage and soft tissue therapy, and is a member of both the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC) and the Institute of Sports and Remedial Massage (ISRM).
In the past Kate has spent many years living abroad, predominantly in India, New Zealand and Australia. She spent that time setting up projects and working within local communities. She played an integral part in setting up a farm based school in Tamil Nadu, South India and was part of the founding team for some years. She taught English and Maths to children of all ages and enjoyed learning to speak and read Tamil. Prior to that Kate co-founded a tailoring unit which produced baby slings to be exported to the UK. During her initial years in Tamil Nadu she spent time running arts and drama workshops with orphanages in the area.
Kate has completed qualifications in horticulture and permaculture and has been involved in land based design projects creating sustainable, food based programs in India, Australia and the UK. She is passionate about the environment and growing food and is always exploring opportunities to live more harmoniously with the Earth.
Kate has worked within the homeless community for years and sets up yearly fundraising to make up and distribute winter packs for people living on the streets of Brighton. She is now in the early stages of setting up an exciting new project with a fellow ICOM graduate, bringing Acupuncture and other modes of healing to disadvantaged communities in the UK who would not otherwise have access to such treatment.
