Elio Basagni – BSc (Hons) Oriental Medicine Acupuncture, MBAcC, FHEA, LIc Ac

Principal, Practitioner, Lecturer

Elio believes that acupuncture can be the modern answer to health issues, with old roots; a medicine that put patients at the centre of the clinical stage treating them as individuals guiding them towards taking responsibility for their health needs. Elio has deepened his understanding of the classics led by scholars Elisabeth Rochat de la Vallée, Dr. Liu Lihong and Jeffrey Yuen. His main area of interest is the study of the BaZi 八字 .

As all ICOM practitioners, Elio is a General Acupuncture Practitioner and treats a broad range of conditions.

In 2010 he founded the Icommunity project a multibed clinical setting which tried to address the needs of the community in terms of frequency and affordability of treatments.

He has practiced an ancient form of Tai Chi for more than 25 years.

Sarah Major- MBAcC, Lic. Ac.  PGCert (LTHE)

Clinic Director, Practitioner, Lecturer

Sarah qualified from the ICOM in 1995. Since then she has practiced continually and grown a strong reputation in the field of women’s health. She gained further qualifications in Herbal Medicine from the College of Integrated Chinese Medicine (CICM) in 2000 and as a Teacher in 2009 (from Brighton University).

Sarah has lectured on many courses at ICOM across all 3 years of the training since 2008 and given CPD training in order to further qualified acupuncturists knowledge of treating gynaecological issues, fertility and pregnancy. She specialises in Facial Acupuncture, women’s hormonal issues, gynaecology, fertility and pregnancy.

Since 2018 she has taken the role of Clinic Director at ICOM with the aim to promote the clinic to the wider community and raise the profile of the college.

As an original member of Zita West’s national network of affiliated acupuncturists Sarah has undergone extensive training and post graduate courses to offer treatments that support conception and a healthy pregnancy. She has also trained under the renown Facial Acupuncturist, Paul Adkins.

Tom Ings BSc (Hons) Oriental Medicine Acupuncture MBAcC, PGCert LTHE, LicAc.

Director of Studies, Practitioner, Lecturer

As Director of Studies at ICOM Tom has taught across various modules at ICOM since 2008. He also holds a BA in Geography, Environmental and Development Studies and graduated top of his class at ICOM in 2007. He now practices Acupuncture at two multi-disciplinary clinics and is the head of the academic consultation board at ICOM.

Ruth Bell  BSc (Hons) Oriental Medicine Acupuncture, MBAcC,  LicAc.

Practitioner, Lecturer

Ruth graduated from the ICOM with a First-Class BSc (Hons) degree, and now teaches as well as practises in the clinic. In common with all practitioners at ICOM Ruth is a general acupuncturist treating a wide range of conditions. She has a particular interest in the increasing scientific evidence for the way that everyday stress affects the immune system and is a factor in a wide variety of chronic health conditions. She believes strongly in classical acupuncture’s holistic approach to maintaining health, including through regulation of the body’s stress response mechanism.

Ruth also practises from a clinic near Battle in East Sussex.

Suzi Broad  BSc (Hons) Oriental Medicine Acupuncture, MBAcC, PGCert, LicAc.

Practitioner, Lecturer

Suzi graduated from ICOM with a First Class (Hons) degree in Acupuncture and has been a member of the British Acupuncture Council since 2012. She works from the ICOM clinic and the River Clinic in Lewes.

She is passionate about a holistic approach to health and the power of acupuncture to treat a broad range of conditions. Suzi has a particular interest in women’s health and the support that acupuncture can give during both emotionally and physically.

Originally trained as a Beauty and Massage therapist in 1999, she has since completed courses in the Vodder Manual Lymphatic drainage technique, Hot stone massage and Facial Enhancement Acupuncture.

Alison Dalziel BSc (Hons) Oriental Medicine Acupuncture, MBAcC,  LicAc.

Practitioner, Lecturer

Alison was awarded a first-class BSc (Hons) degree in Chinese Acupuncture with Greenwich University at ICOM. Alison incorporates Traditional Chinese Medicine, Five Element and classical constitutional approaches in her acupuncture treatments. She is also a member of the Institute of Sports & Remedial Massage and the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC). Her special areas of interest include musculo-skeletal pain and anxiety related disorders.

Alison has been working as a therapist since 1994 with massage, reflexology and aromatherapy and has specialised in sports & remedial massage and advanced soft tissue therapy, working alongside physiotherapists, osteopaths and doctors in Asia, Spain and the UK. She has been teaching at LSSM since 2011 and is course leader for the ICOM/LSSM massage course which we run every year.

Bethan Dixon BSc (Hons) Oriental Medicine Acupuncture, MBAcC, LicAc.

Practitioner, Lecturer

Bethan is a licensed acupuncturist, qualifying with a First Class BSc Honours degree in Acupuncture from the ICOM, University of Greenwich.

A qualified massage therapist, Bethan often uses massage and bodywork when treating patients and incorporates moxibustion and cupping where appropriate. She has pursued continuous professional development (CPD) in areas including, chinese medicine nutrition, muscular skeletal conditions, women’s health and pregnancy.

Bethan practices classical acupuncture and is committed to further studying the teachings of the Huangdi Neijing (Yellow Emperor’s Inner Canon) and traditional Chinese characters; their origin and context in Chinese classic medical texts. She has a keen interest in the preservation of the traditional principles that provide the foundation for Chinese Medicine.

Harry Freedman BSc (Hons) Oriental Medicine Acupuncture, MBAcC,  LicAc.

Practitioner

Harry studied at ICOM and graduated with a First-Class BSc (Hons) degree.

His aim in practice and to become more connected with the concepts of Classical Chinese Medicine in order to use tools such as acupuncture to their greatest potential.

Harry also practises acupuncture at a multidisciplinary clinic in Croydon.

Kirsten Germann   MBAcC, LicAc.

Practitioner

Kirsten qualified as an acupuncturist in 1994 from ICOM.

Since then she has been working at the Eastbourne Clinic of Natural Medicine and at the Chilston Clinic in Tunbridge Wells.

She has been teaching and studying yoga for many years, travelling extensively to India to further her knowledge and is currently working on several charitable projects in South India. In recent years, Kirsten has been part of an Acupuncture Training Program in Myanmar (Burma), enabling local traditional doctors to use acupuncture as an effective tool to help their many patients.

Kirsten enjoys working with clients for a broad range of conditions: allergies, asthma, migraines, hormonal disturbances, depression, cravings, addictions, muscular injuries and pain, chronic conditions like arthritis, MS, paralysis, nerve related pain, the after effects of stroke and also complex conditions that cannot yet be diagnosed or helped by orthodox medicine, as well as general balancing. She particularly enjoys working with children.

Kirsten also offers courses of facial rejuvenation acupuncture.

Ping Ho  BSc (Hons) Oriental Medicine Acupuncture, MBAcC,  LicAc.

Practitioner

Ping was born in a small rural village in the south east of mainland China. She grew up in Hong Kong where Chinese Medicine has been an integral part of people’s lives. As a child, she observed her grandfather using herbs, acupressure and gua sha techniques in treating ailments of his own and his family. She moved to the U.K. in 2003 and later studied at ICOM. She practises acupuncture in Forest Row, East Grinstead and Crawley. Apart from her private clinics, she also supports cancer patients on their recovery journeys for Macmillan (Queen Victoria Hospital) and The Olive Tree (Crawley Hospital).

Since graduation, she has been supporting patients from all walks of lives with a wide range of conditions such as cancers, auto-immune diseases, gynaecology, anxiety, menopause, fertility, depression etc. She often combines other Chinese medicine therapies such as Tui Na massage, cupping, moxibustion, acupressure, gua sha etc., together with acupuncture in treatments to achieve better therapeutic results.

For her, acupuncture and the associated therapies are not just mere tools to resolve illnesses. She also believes that by sharing her knowledge with her patients to understand the philosophy underlies the Chinese Medicine can help to achieve a wider balance in one’s physical and emotional health in life.

Galit Hughes MBAcC,  LicAc.

Practitioner

Galit graduated from ICOM in 1994. She enjoys working with people with wide variety of conditions and uses an integrated approach to help then in their journey to health. As an acupuncturist, she practices Acupuncture at ICOM. She runs two successful natural therapy centres in Sussex, Gaia Natural Health and Horam Natural Therapy Centre from which she also practices.

Galit has a particular interest in Acupuncture for Fertility and was trained by Zita West in London. She loves treating children and she is particularly adept at massage.

Galit is a Kundalini Yoga Teacher and an Inner Guidance/Dance Facilitator. She is the author of  ‘Baby Massage – A Comprehensive Step-by Step Guide’.

Madina Palmos  BSc (Hons) Oriental Medicine Acupuncture, MBAcC, LicAc.

Practitioner

Madi qualified with a BSc Honours degree from the ICOM and is a member of the British Acupuncture Council. Prior to her journey into the world of acupuncture, Madi worked as a Western medical doctor. She obtained a Degree in Medicine (USSR) and a PhD in Dermatology (Uzbekistan).

She keeps up to date and expands her knowledge by continuing her studies in acupuncture and herbal medicine, and has done courses on facial acupuncture, fertility as well as training with Peter Van Kervel in acupuncture for cancer patients. Madi works with cancer patients at the Macmillan centre, Queen Victoria Hospital. She has also helped with the translation of a book on Stems and Branches into the Russian language.

Madi is passionate about holistic medicine and personal growth and has qualified as a life coach and spiritual counsellor which she incorporates to compliment her acupuncture treatments.

Ivan Peron  MBAS

Practitioner

Since 2007 Ivan has been treating people affected by cancer and the side effects of their treatments (surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy, hormonal therapy) at the Olive Tree Cancer Support Centre, Crawley Hospital.

He has dealt with a wide variety of pathologies, syndromes and complications always with the intention of treating the individual, trying to follow the teaching of the Classics of Acupuncture as they have been passed down mainly by Joan Duveen.

He has a considerable experience in treating people affected by Multiple Sclerosis.

Ivan studied acupuncture and Chinese medicine at the International College of Oriental Medicine, graduated with honours in 2006 and has obtained a diploma in Swedish/Therapeutic massage.

He is certified NADA practitioner. [NADA: National Acupuncture Detoxification Association – Detox Acupuncture]

Rebecca Wheatley BSc (Hons) Oriental Medicine Acupuncture, MBAcC, PGCert  FHEA, LicAc.

Practitioner, Lecturer

Rebecca is a licensed Acupuncturist and Aromatherapist. She completed her acupuncture training at the ICOM and graduated with a First Class BSc (Hons) degree.

Rebecca initially trained in Chinese Medicine principles in 1995 as an Aromatherapist and this unique combination of Chinese Medicine, Acupressure and Essential oils have been an integral part of her life and practice since. She also trained as an Occupational Therapist and worked within the NHS for 6 years, which gave her a deeper understanding of chronic and acute conditions from a Western perspective.

Over her years in practice she has worked holistically with a wide variety of pathologies, integrating her diverse skills into her treatments, including rehabilitative advice where appropriate and oil blends to support the healing process at home. Rebecca has additionally trained in Scalp acupuncture, which she primarily uses to support neurological conditions.

Rebecca treats at the ICOM Clinic as well as running her own clinic in Ashurst Wood. She is an Acupuncture teacher at ICOM as well as teaching and educating privately on the use of essential oils to manage health naturally.

Juliette Willett

Counselling and Psychotherapy

Juliette offers Counselling and Psychotherapy at the International College Of Oriental Medicine. Her experience includes working with adults, young people and children both within private practice, the NHS, crime reduction initiatives and within schools. For over 10 years Juliette ran a successful practice in West Sussex as a Physical Therapist working with adults, young people and children to treat physical symptoms of stress, anxiety, depression, trauma and injury. In 2012 she undertook four years of training in psychotherapy at The Wealden Institute. Her aim is to provide you with an environment that is safe, non-judgemental and secure, offering you the opportunity to speak freely, feel heard and make positive changes.  Finding the right Therapist who works in a way that suits you is key to a successful outcome, therefore Juliette offers an initial complimentary half hour session to meet with you and discuss your needs with no obligation.
