Students at the International College of Oriental Medicine (ICOM) study a three year Acupuncture course accredited by the British Acupuncture Accreditation Board (BAAB) in connection with the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC)<\/a>. The BAcC is the main professional body for Acupuncturists in the UK. All of our clinic practitioners and teachers are fully registered, licensed and insured.<\/p>\r\n

ICOM clinic serves as a teaching clinic for these students which provides them with superb opportunities to observe experienced Acupuncturists at work. This enables them to learn their art, through direct experience and under the close supervision of highly-skilled registered acupuncturists.<\/p>\r\n

Group Sessions (Years 2 &\u00a0 3)<\/h4>\r\n

Group sessions are held with a small group of second or final year Acupuncture students who are fully supervised at all times by an experienced registered Acupuncturist.<\/p>\r\n

Supervised \/ Trainee Clinic (Final Year Students in Year 3)<\/h4>\r\n

These are one-to-one Acupuncture treatments with a final year Acupuncture student who has achieved the required standard of proficiency to be able to treat patients. Treatment is always under the supervision of a highly-experienced registered Acupuncturist.<\/p>\r\n

Students will take a detailed history of your health along with any relevant medical information. Anything discussed during the appointment will always remain completely confidential.<\/b><\/p>\r\n

These sessions last approximately an hour and a half (one-to-one) or two-and-a-half hours (groups).<\/p>\r\n

PLEASE NOTE: Due to variable scheduling, student clinics can only be booked by telephone and not online. Please call our reception on 01342 313 106 to book.<\/strong><\/p>\r\n

About Acupuncture<\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Acupuncture is one of the oldest and safest medical treatments in the world. It is used to restore, promote and maintain health. It is used both as a stand-alone therapy or in combination with other forms of medicine to help treat a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Acupuncture can help with specific health conditions, such as pain associated with osteoarthritis of the knee. It can also be used to help with more general symptoms, such as nausea or headaches. Treatment can also be used as a measure to prevent illness, helping to maintain good health or to improve well-being.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Traditional Acupuncture works by helping to restore balance to the body\u2019s vital energy or \u2018Qi\u2019. It involves the insertion of very fine needles into specific points on the body.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Acupuncture treatment is aimed at treating the root cause of a condition as well as the main symptoms. A holistic therapy, traditional Chinese Acupuncture treats the whole person \u2013 body and mind.
