As a young girl in my 20’s I had never given Facial Acupuncture any thought. But following some recent coverage in the press about the numerous celebs turning to this ancient Chinese practice I decided to give it a go. I had struggled with dark circles under my eyes and I suffer from acne breakouts which had resulted in dark blemishes.
I received the treatment at the International College of Oriental Medicine which is the oldest acupuncture teaching college in the UK and so I knew I was in good hands.
Before my treatment I was very nervous, although I had only heard good reviews about the treatment itself and the results, my main worry was the ‘pain’ from the needles.
I was wrong to worry, Paul Atkins was my practitioner and I actually enjoyed the treatment more than I thought I would. Paul explained every step to me and was very informative. I arrived with makeup on. Paul first removed my all makeup and cleansed my face. I was asked questions about my health and had my pulse taken. Paul then concentrated on the needle placement, which I didn’t find uncomfortable.
The treatment was actually very therapeutic and I particularly enjoyed the collagen mask towards the end. The treatment lasted a little more than an hour in total.
It’s been four days since my treatment and my skin is feeling great! I haven’t experienced any of my previous symptoms. I would definitely look to continue and commit to a series of sessions. I understand this will give the best results. But overall I am happy with the result from my first treatment. I would definitely recommend Facial Acupuncture at ICOM.
