Point Location Teacher

Purpose of the Role

We are currently recruiting a Point Location teacher to work closely with the Point Location team in the delivery of our Point Location Curriculum. The successful candidate will also work indirectly with other departments including the Chinese Medicine/Western Medicine and the Personal and Professional Development faculty.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivery of theoretical and practical skills as designated by the specific Course Aims and Learning Outcomes
  • Lectures to be taught at level 5 and/or 6
  • Lecturers will teach in accordance with ICOM’s specific point location techniques
  • To contribute to course development and attend all relevant faculty meetings.

Skills Required

  • You will be expected to know all your points and the techniques used to find them.
  • You will need to be able to communicate and demonstrate your skills.
  • Excellent, empathetic communication skills.
  • A kind and attentive nature is assumed as you help to build confidence and skill in the novice acupuncturist.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the entire channel system including the internal pathways of the main channels and the pathways of the secondary channels as delineated in the Ling Shu.
  • Excellent surface anatomy knowledge – both theoretical and palpatory.
  • Good IT skills – candidates will be required to use Microsoft 365 and may be required to record ‘location’ podcasts for our on-line repository.
  • A higher education teaching qualification is ideal.
  • You must have been in practice for over 5 years.
  • Evidence of relevant Chinese Medicine related CPDs.
  • Membership of the BAcC.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and on one’s own initiative.
