Day 1: Face Reading, Trauma & Healing
Integrating Chinese Face Reading with Western Science in TCM to Transform Trauma
In our ongoing quest for health and well-being, Chinese Face Reading offers a fascinating perspective. This ancient pseudoscience reveals hidden insights about our personality, health, and even our life path. Every face tells a unique life story.
Chinese Face Reading involves observing and interpreting various facial features such as shape, colour, texture, and the position of features like eyes, nose, mouth, and eyebrows. These elements are seen as indicators of various aspects of a person’s life, including health, emotional state, temperament, personality, talents, weaknesses, and life experiences. By linking the five elements to the unique features of our face, we can gain a deeper understanding of who we are and our state of health.
Chinese Face Reading has been used since the inception of traditional Chinese medicine as a tool for making accurate diagnoses. As a diagnostic instrument, Chinese Face Reading allows us to identify diseases and determine innate susceptibilities to specific physical, emotional, and mental conditions.
Furthermore, a thorough analysis of our face can alert us to potential health problems before they fully manifest. This provides us with the opportunity to take preventive measures and proactively manage our health.
But face analysis goes beyond just physical health. It is also a powerful tool for self-reflection and personal growth. By understanding how our facial features reflect our psychological and mental state of well-being, we can gain better insight into ourselves and our relationships with others.
Trauma begins as early as utero, shaping our personality, decisions, and even our facial features. Trauma is not just defined by the events themselves but by their lasting impact on the nervous system and emotional regulation. In Chinese Face Reading, the face reflects the imprint of trauma, stored emotions, and coping mechanisms. Trauma alters our physiology, which becomes visible in facial structures, expression lines, and asymmetries. By integrating Western insights with TCM and Chinese Face Reading, we create a powerful diagnostic tool. By decoding trauma through the face, we gain deeper diagnostic accuracy and open pathways for true healing.
This approach allows us not only to recognise trauma but also to process and transform it. This unique fusion opens new pathways to healing, transformation, and an authentic life.
Day two: Face Reading, Health & the Five Elements
Decoding the Language of the Face to Understand the Body and Its Organs
In our continuous search for balance and well-being, Chinese Face Diagnosis offers one of the most profound diagnostic tools ever developed. This ancient wisdom, rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), reveals how the face mirrors the internal landscape of the body, reflecting the harmony or disharmony of the five organs through the five elements.
Every feature on the face, the brightness of the eyes, the color of the skin, the tone of the lips, the depth of lines,… tells a story about our inner world. These subtle changes are not random; they are precise reflections of organ function, emotional vitality, and the movement of Qi within.
In this course, we explore how Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water reveal themselves on the face and how each element corresponds to an organ system and its emotional and physiological expression: By learning to read the signs of the five elements on the face, we gain insight into the early warning signs of imbalance, long before disease fully manifests.
Discoloration, swelling, dryness, or asymmetry can each signal where Qi is stagnant, where an organ is under stress, or where emotional patterns have taken root. This course integrates classical TCM physiology with modern health science to bridge the visible and the invisible.
You will learn how to:
- Identify the facial zones linked to each organ and element.
- Recognise the early signs of deficiency, excess, and stagnation.
- Apply this knowledge to restore harmony, prevent illness, and support vitality on every level.
Your face is a living health record, constantly communicating the state of your body, mind, and spirit. By learning to read this language, you open the door to preventive medicine, deeper awareness, and true healing from within.

About the teacher
Mieke Fraussen is now considered an expert in the field of Chinese Face Reading and facial analysis.
Over 20 years ago, she left a successful career in advertising to delve into human health. After a brief stint as a naturopathic therapist, where she studied Western facial diagnostics, and as a shiatsu therapist, where she gained knowledge of Japanese Face Reading, she encountered traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). She even obtained a nursing diploma to further her understanding in this area.
This marked the beginning of her journey through the five pillars of TCM. At the TCM congress in Rothenburg, she met Lillian Bridges. Lillian’s vision of a person’s talents and potential, visible and understandable simply by looking at the face, inspired Mieke to deepen her knowledge in this form of Face Reading. She travelled the world to study various forms of Chinese Face Reading.
During these travels, she also delved into BaZi and Feng Shui. Thanks to the insights she gained through Face Reading on an emotional and mental level, Mieke delved deeper into this field. She pursued training with western experts such as Dr. Gabor Maté and Bessel van der Kolk where she developed a deeper understanding of the mind’s functioning and the deeper meaning and origins of trauma.
She then integrated this knowledge into her expertise in Face Reading and in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). In addition to her work as an acupuncturist, mental health practitioner, herbalist, nutritionist, and qigong teacher, Mieke also trains others in Face Reading. Her deep knowledge and years of experience make her a respected and sought-after expert in the field. She has helped countless people gain a better understanding of themselves and their health through the insights she offers via Face Reading. Mieke’s dedication to the field and her ability to blend the ancient wisdom of Chinese Face Reading with modern techniques make her a pioneer and an inspiring teacher for many.
